The study explores the possible consequences of competency development in the airline industry of Pakistan. For this purpose, a second-order model was proposed. There were two main hypotheses were proposed in the study, and two endogenous constructs were used. The study used purposive sampling to collect the data of more than 200 respondents. They were briefed in detail about the purpose and objectives. After the data collection, several techniques were applied to clean the data from incomplete and invalid responses. Structural equation modeling was used through SmartPLS. The common method bias was also checked and found that the data is clean from the issue. The results suggest that competency development has a key role to play in determining employee retention and organizational development. Organizations must design policies to enforce competency development programs.
