E-governance has been adopted by many countries over the globe. This paper discusses the drivers and barriers of the Pakistan citizen portal as an e-governance tool adopted by Pakistan. This study uses semi-structured interviews with citizens and government officials of Pakistan to determine its opportunities and challenges. Our findings suggest that the Pakistan citizen portal was initially established to increase citizen-centric participatory governance by providing a medium to citizens to connect with the government. Government officials and citizens both considered it a good way to improve the relationship between government and citizens by providing a better regulatory system. However, it hasn’t reached its full potential yet because public officials are facing some challenges while working on it and citizens are also not fully satisfied with its results.
