Abstract:

The digital economy has played a pivotal role in enhancing productivity, driving growth, and shaping the emergence of digital banking. The extensive adoption of digital financial services for financial inclusion has fueled the demand for digital transformation within the banking sector. While this transformation offers numerous advantages, it also disrupts the familiar banking experience that customers have grown accustomed to and introducing potential risks to maintaining customer protection at previous levels.   Critics have expressed concerns regarding customer protection and the potential exposure to various risks associated with digital financial services, which can result in both financial and non-financial losses. These risks can impact customer retention; as dissatisfied customers may switch to alternative service providers. Additionally, reputation can be affected since merely offering digital financial services may not sufficiently safeguard customers. To sustain a competitive edge, financial institutions must deliver a secured experience that aligns with customer expectations while considering economic factors and societal needs.   Therefore, it is crucial to comprehend the intensity of risk factors that influence customer protection in the realm of digitalized banking services and products. This study introduces a comprehensive security framework consisting of five factors that influence customer protection when utilizing digital financial services in Pakistan. Analysis conducted using SmartPLS demonstrates that all the factors proposed in this research significantly and positively impact customer protection. Notably, the information provided holds the utmost significance in shaping customer protection within digital financial services, followed by responsiveness, data privacy, authentication, and encryption mechanisms. In light of these findings, the implementation of enhanced information security management principles becomes imperative for the progress and development of the digital banking industry in Pakistan
